The Environmental Services manager ensures that all of the properties and grounds of the hospital maintain a high level of cleanliness, sanitation and appearance for patients, visitors, and staff.
Responsible for environmental services staff. Hiring, terminating, counseling and ensuring adequate staffing to meet the needs of the hospital. Communicates strategic goals and provides direction
Performs inspections of facility and grounds to ensure high levels of sanitation and cleanliness.
Monitors quality, trends data, patient satisfaction ratings, initiates performance improvement projects, and provides follow up to internal customers and patients, visitors and fellow employees.
Provides general supervision to all employees in Environmental Services. Conducts regular meetings with the department staff and order to share ideas, changes, and discuss opportunities for improvement.
Monitors the timeliness in which patient rooms are cleaned following a patient’s discharge. Monitors the bed management program on a weekly basis to ensure that the department is actively working to facilitate patient throughput within the hospital.
Oversees all service contracts of the Environmental Services & Department including but not limited to the following: Linen, external janitorial contracts, window washing and pressure washing, pest control, matting programs, moving and special event set up’s and management of all waste streams (universal, standard, bio hazardous, hazardous, etc.), as well as recycling programs.
Works closely with other Department Directors to ensure patient satisfaction with the services provided by the department.
Maintains current knowledge of all supplies and equipment used in EVS, and oversees the safe usage of these materials.
Prepares and administers the department’s operating budget, and monitors all expenses on a daily and monthly basis. Responsible for purchasing of all supplies and equipment.
Serves on committees and task forces with the goal of enhancing the patient experience.
Corporate/ regulatory compliance: Demonstrates understanding and abides by corporate compliance policies and assures compliance with federal and state regulations and accrediting agency standards.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Strong interpersonal skills required, as well as a commanding knowledge of computers, including Bed Management programs and Microsoft Office
Possess strong management skills to direct and manage the department.
Problem solving and decision-making: approaches problems using a methodical approach and analysis information to make well thought-out decisions
This position requires knowledge of cleaning chemicals; proper use and maintenance of power equipment, such as automatic scrubbers, carpet extractors, etc.; proper floor care; carpet textile; upholstery fabrics; wall and floor coverings; wood; and synthetic finishes.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School diploma or equivalent.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Five years previous working experience in Environmental Services, Hospitality Management or a Support Services role.
MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Registered/Certified Executive Housekeeper (REH/CEH) preferred or
Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) preferred
