The Director of Facilities is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing all administrative and technical aspects of Island Hospital’s Plant Operations and Environmental Services departments, as well as overseeing the Hospital’s Safety and Security programs. The Director has 24/7 responsibility for department operations, as well as ensuring that all hospital building systems are maintained in accordance with established standards and applicable regulatory requirements, managing various construction / renovation projects, overseeing project budgets and personnel, coordinating and overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance programs for Plant Systems and Biomedical Engineering Equipment. The Facilities Director is responsible for helping to create an environment and culture reflective of the Island Hospital Promise that supports achieving organizational goals.

Thorough knowledge of the techniques, procedures and processes used for the efficient operation of building services including knowledge of construction processes.
Thorough knowledge of healthcare facility cleaning procedures and processes including biohazard spills and cleanup procedures.
Thorough knowledge of laundry and linen management and facility waste management.
Minimum six (6) years of hospital / healthcare related engineering experience with a minimum of three (3) years in a leadership position.
Bachelor's degree or additional formal training in HVAC, electrical or other related field required.
Advanced education in business, leadership, or related technical / engineering field required.
CHFM certification preferred.
