Directs housekeeping program to ensure clean, orderly, and attractive conditions of establishment.
Directs laundry service to ensure adequate supply and condition of linens and attire for appropriate staff
Establishes standards and procedures of work for staff and plans work schedules to ensure adequate service.
Inspects and evaluates physical condition of establishment and submits recommendations for painting, repairs, furnishings, relocation of equipment, and reallocation of space.
Identifies problem areas and takes appropriate action.
Periodically inventories supplies and equipment.
Reads trade journals to keep informed of new and improved cleaning methods, products, supplies and equipment and makes’ appropriate recommendations.
Organizes and directs departmental training programs, resolves personnel problems, participates in hiring new employees, and evaluates employee performance.
Evaluates records to forecast department personnel requirements and prepares department budget.
Education: College degree with emphasis in business management preferred. High School graduate or equivalent required.
Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. Minimum of 5-years hospital experience with 2-years managerial experience required.
Certifications/Licensure: Certification by National Association of Executive Housekeepers preferred. Training and current certificate to comply with Department of Transportation 49 CFR 172 Subpart H, with regard to hazardous materials, required or obtained within 90 days of hire. Certified Healthcare Environmental Service Professional (CHESP) certification required or obtain within 2 years of hire.
