Eligible for $1,000 Sign-on Bonus
Performs a variety of healthcare environmental services duties to enhance the healthcare environment by maintaining the location assigned. Follows special healthcare cleaning and trash handling techniques as required ensuring a professional and appropriate service standard while performing the job. Follows system wide standards as well as department specific service standards.
Responsible for ensuring the very best patient/family/ customer experience by optimizing all customer interactions. Fosters a positive work environment through mutual support and cooperation and adheres to GHS and unit specific Service Standards. Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.
Reports to an Environmental Services Supervisor and or Team Leader.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
Demonstrates excellent customer service skills.
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with EVS Management and Staff as well as with patients, their families/visitors, clinical care providers and non-clinical staff and follow instructions when given.
Demonstrates ability to read, communicate orally and in writing, and follow oral and written instructions. (In English)
Demonstrates the ability to work independently as well as a team and displays initiative and good judgment.
Demonstrates ability to prioritize assigned duties to facilitate patient throughput.
Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to assume a variety of job assignments based on and to meet the needs of the department in order to facilitate patient care and throughput.
Demonstrates ability to adhere to all HIPPA rules and regulations in the course of their job and when, or as well as away from their job with interacting with hospital staff, patients, and visitors, follows all EVS and Infection Control Procedures and Policies, and performs computer-based time entry and in-service education modules and can assist others in this regard.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Previous experience in environmental services in a health care setting preferred.
On-the-job training is provided
All EVS Staff who enter Medication Rooms (Where Applicable) must receive mandatory education on proper Medication Room protocol.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally, carry and push carts from 100 lbs. to 500 lbs. when performing duties. Works under a variety of temperature conditions. May involve transporting items outside of buildings in all weather conditions.
Requires ability to perform job duties correctly with in established System EVS standards to facilitate patient throughput.
Requires ability to tolerate the associated visual, auditory and scents associated with providing all kinds of medical and surgical care.
Work is typically performed in a hospital setting; frequently performs duties around patients, their families and clinical care providers as well as non-clinical staff.
