This position is responsible for evaluating the accuracy, integrity and quality of the companys Accounts Receivable; for compliance with contractual requirements, regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures. Supports financial receipts and budgetary performance relative to goals by providing supervisory, technical and administrative direction to the Patient Financial Services Directors at the facilities and the Central Billing Offices. This position provides analysis and recommendations to Directors, Regional Directors and Executive Management on the management of greater than $2 billion in net receivables, account processing practices, software systems and compliance. This position coordinates and supervises all internal and external audit activities regarding operations within Patient Financial Services. This position also coordinates and maintains the budget process for all Patient Financial Services and Central Billing Offices.
Provides managerial direction and supervision to direct reports responsible for monitoring and evaluating: the Accounts Receivable; sound cash control and cash application principles; account processing practices and contractual and regulatory compliance; financial and budgetary performance; claims processing programming and Support Services and other non-reporting, management and staff.
Develops, validates, distributes and presents to management, reports and analyses regarding: the Accounts Receivable; account processing practices; accounts receivable management; and special project analyses.
Provides compliance audit for claims, billing and patient notification under HIPAA CMS, FAR/CAM and multiple insurance contract types. Interfaces with internal and external auditors and Patient Financial Services management and staff to supervise and coordinate all audit or review activities regarding the BHS Patient Accounts Receivable. Ensures that all transactions are HIPAA compliant.
Represents Patient Financial Services operations in System-wide, multi-disciplinary task forces and work groups to improve company and patient financial services operations and activities.
Coaches staff and teaches technical skills. Improves reporting departmental operations by developing managerial skills, analytical skills and technical knowledge among direct reports and staff.
Coordinates and facilitates requests for new software systems and tools, ensuring appropriate analysis of software systems. Coordinates these functions for all areas of Patient Financial Services in facilities and in central billing offices.
Develops and maintains annual budgets for the central billing offices. Coordinates and manages all Capital Requests for Patient Financial Services.
Develops and maintains multiple software programs for electronic processes that include, but are not limited to: claims submission, payment posting, bad debt transfers, eligibility and insurance verification, electronic funds transfers.
This position requires a Bachelors degree level of knowledge in business, finance, or related fields.
Requires two or more years of experience with accounts receivable in a patient accounting system, and extensive understanding of electronic insurance claims processing. Three or more years of demonstrated managerial and organizational experience is also required. Good analytical and interpretive skills are required to evaluate financial and operational performance. Effective verbal and written communication skills are required. Effective interpersonal skills are required to deal with all levels of management and external contacts.
Must have extensive knowledge of electronic claims systems and standards, plus skills in the use and programming of database systems, spreadsheets and analytical tools.
A Masters degree in a related area is preferred. A broad, general knowledge of the health care environment is advantageous.
