The Director of Facilities Management provides direct oversight, strategy, budget management and leadership to all facility areas including engineering, construction, biomedical engineering, security, and grounds as well as all environmental services departments for the 222 bed level 2 trauma main campus hospital and clinics. Combined, this includes 16 facilities, 25 acres of property, and over 500,000 square feet of hospital and clinical space. The Director's daily operations are heavily involved with The Joint Commission and OSHPD. The Director ensures the safe, comfortable, and clean operation of all hospital and outpatient areas.
The incumbent in this position will provide administrative and technical leadership for decision making as it relates to facility departments, preventive maintenance, compliance with applicable laws, capital and strategic planning, budgeting, and construction management oversight. The Director will develop, monitor and have overall responsibility for a broad range of operational program initiatives. The Director will address any conflicts or grievances with team members in a timely manner. Responsible to manage staff in an effective manner to include hiring, retention, performance/reward assessment and coaching and corrective action for Construction Services, Engineering Trades, Biomedical Engineering, Security, Grounds, Housekeeping, Transportation, Communications, Laundry/Linen, and Support Services Departments.
Responsible for regulatory compliance related to construction services, fire and life safety, plant operations and maintenance, and Joint Commission.
Works with direct reports to plan, organize, manage, and control all aspects of facilities at the hospital, clinics, and administrative offices, including but not limited to: planning, design, construction, alteration, operation, and maintenance of plant facilities.
Oversees the Environmental Services leadership to organize, direct, and oversee all related operations, including: housekeeping, communications, transportation, and, laundry/linen.
Works directly with physicians, administration, employees, and patients to ensure a safe, comfortable, and clean environment.
Oversees security operations at the hospital, clinics, and administrative offices.
Maintains current knowledge in the field of facilities management, maintenance, and environmental services to establish, implement and update facility-related policies and procedures that comply with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
Develops and maintains standards of routine, periodic, and preventative maintenance to keep all facilities safe and patient-centered. This includes periodic environmental rounds and routine inspections/audits of facilities, grounds, and maintains all relevant paperwork and reports.
Participates in a variety of committees, including safety, security, and emergency management. Participates as an integral team member on these committees, ensuring appropriate operation of drills, timely completion of reports and documentation, and regular attendance and appropriate participation in committee meetings.
Provides continuous feedback to the President and other executive team members regarding priorities and status of work performed.
Inspects work for exactness and conformance to policies and procedures.

General knowledge of mechanical workings of various aspects of the physical facility, including central plant, boilers, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC.

A Bachelor’s Degree in construction or facility management is desired.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing all aspects of facility operations and construction management, to include training, procedure development, and large project management is required; ten (10) years if preferred.
Possession of a current valid California Driver’s License.
