Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director, is responsible for supervising EVS staff to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness are met for the hospital and adjacent facilities. Promotes teamwork to ensure work is completed timely and helps maintain an efficient and safe working environment. Assumes responsibility of day, evening or night shift operation of the EVS department and related responsibilities.
Full Time-3:00-11:30 Every weekends is a must
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Â·Responsible for the supervision of the EVS staff for the designated shift. This includes oversight of the cleaning of the Hospital and adjacent office building.
Â·Applies Joint Commission Accreditation standards for Hospitals within Environmental Services operation.
Â·Regularly surveys departmental procedures for adherence to acceptable cleaning practices.
Â·Supervises the servicing of all areas under the responsibility of Environmental Services to maintain a âœvery cleanâ appearance level including:
Â·Daily Cleaning to include patient rooms, common areas, restrooms, corridors/stairwells, clinical departments such as ED and OR, medical office building and office/ancillary areas.
Â·Removal of trash, soiled linen, bio waste and pharmaceutical waste.
Â·Terminal operating room cleaning
Â·Project work such as floor finishing, wall/window cleaning, etc.
Â·Responsible for Clean Linen Distribution
Â·Following department policy, orders linen weekly/daily /as needed to maintain sufficient stock.
Â·Evaluates linen distribution for acceptable productivity and accuracy through the tracking program.
Â·Maintains all tracking and accountability of linen supplies.
Â·Maintains department control of staff and productivity
Â·Schedule staff and daily reviews staff accountability with regards to work schedules & assignments.
Â·Monitors and adjust staffing to meet acceptable levels of productivity and business needs.
Â·Manages the efficient turnover of patient beds through the use of the Get Well Network âœclick to cleanâ (hereafter GWN).
Â·Takes corrective action to remedy a patient or any other customer complaint.
Â·Manages incomplete shift duties by communicating to the relieving supervisor through verbal communication and written reports.
Â·Functions in an independent manner in the daily supervision of staff.
Â·Responsible for equipment maintenance/usage
Â·Reports to Environmental Services Assistant Director any equipment not in good working order.May submit work order to Engineering for repair.
Â·Monitors GWN through computer and pager for the efficient turnover of discharge patient beds and patient complaints
Â·Uses handheld computer devices for managing linen distribution and daily room inspections.
Â·Utilizes special equipment and is capable of teaching the safe and proper usage of floor scrubbers and buffers, carpet cleaning equipment, restroom cleaning equipment, ladders, microfiber cleaning systems, commercial laundry equipment all other related equipment.
Â·Contributes to the monitoring of infection prevent issues.
Â·Monitors through visual inspection, all cleaning processes to ensure proper processes are maintained.
Â·Uses checklist on handheld computers when conducting inspections to track problem areas.
Â·Observes staff for proper hand washing technique.
Â·Utilizes âœReport of Illness and Injury Formâ to track employees who should not be in contact with patients.
Â·Oversees department operations and performance of staff
Â·Communicates with supervisors at the beginning and end of staff to ensure proper hand off of
Â·Includes providing support to Nursing Supervisor and Managers to ensure timely bed cleaning.
Â·Establishes daily production sheets for daily cleaners and tracks discharge cleaning assignments to ensure a fair and reasonable distribution of the work in order to maximize staff efficiency.
Â·Maintains sufficient inventory of cleaning supplies and coordinates resupply as needed to ensure smooth operation of business.
Â·Monitors all aspects of daily tasks to maintain an efficient operation reassigning staff to meet the changing needs of the organization to continually meet goals and objectives.
Â·Instructs personnel on work assignments.And reeducates personnel as necessary to ensure acceptable standards are continually met.
Â·Provides new staff orientation communicating both work assignments and the vision of the department.
Â·Assists in the interviewing of applicants. Coaches and counsels as needed. Participates in the performance evaluation process.
Â·Follows and supports hospital and department policies and procedures.
Â·May assist in cleaning assignments as needed.Supervises operation to improve staff and visitor ratings.
Â·Performs other duties in the department as required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Experience in environmental services practices required.
Must have the ability to keep records both written and on the computer using Microsoft office products, read and understand variousreports, read and write English and do simple arithmetic.
Good writing and documentation skills are essential.
Â·Communication skills and keen attention to detail is required.
Â·Knowledge of infection control and hospital cleaning standards and use of equipment is required.
Â·Must be able to function with little or no supervision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Â·Must have at least three to five yearsâ™ experience in the field of a commercial/ industrial cleaning or equivalent.
Â·At least two years of previous healthcare Environmental Services experience and one year minimum of supervisory experience required.
