The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is seeking to hire a Management Service Officer (MSO) 3 to supervise phlebotomy and pre-analytical processes in Support Services. In this key position, you will directly manage a team of Certified Phlebotomy Technicians (CPT) and Patient Record Abstractors (PRA). Primary duties include:
•Oversee daily operations of the lab, which includes technical issues regarding phlebotomy, specimen processing, send out testing, and referral lab reports •Assist with developing and implementing performance standards to ensure optimal delivery of service that meet quality, cost efficiencies and customer service goals •Participate in strategic planning, budget and productivity goals, staff personnel administration, purchasing, expenditure control, space utilization, building and equipment security and maintenance
Required Qualifications •Must have experience working in a high volume clinical laboratory •Strong communication skills with ability to convey complex technical protocols/procedures to personnel at all levels of the organization •Working knowledge of medical terminology and Clinical Lab test names •Knowledge of infection control procedures •Ability to develop, operationalize, and monitor budgets •Ability in resolving complex personnel issues, involving interpretation and application of established policies and procedures •Ability to adapt to changes
Preferred Qualifications •5 years of experience in supervising a team, including demonstrated ability in managing employee performance
