We’re seeking a full-time Environmental Services Technician at our Javon Bea Hospital- Rockton, Rockford, IL location to join our dynamic team of collaborative partners.

  • 3pm– 11:30 pm
  • Weekend/holiday rotation
  • Training available for Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (C.H.E.S.T.) certification after 6 months of good standing in attendance and performance. Successful completion of the C.H.E.S.T. certification program will result in a promotion and pay increase.

  • Responsible for thorough cleaning of assigned areas including, but not limited to, furniture, tile, fixtures, windows, sinks, tubs, toilets, mirrors, showers, etc. Perform high and low dusting of TV’s, lights, walls, mop floors, elevators and stairs, clean door frames, ceiling vents, and vacuum carpet, etc.
  • Observes all isolation procedures and Infect Prevention Standards. Is knowledgeable on correct chemicals used for different pathogens.
  • Maintains EVS closet, EVS cart, and all equipment in a neat and orderly manner. Reports any safety hazards or equipment in need of repair to supervisor and/or Facilities.
  • Responsible for properly mixing and storing chemicals to achieve correct dilution ratio.
  • Makes beds in accordance with specific area needs. Is knowledgeable and can identify various bed types. Utilizes bed tracking phone/pager, places bed in EPIC and removes when bed has been completed. 
  • Adheres to proper handling, transport and disposal of all waste types, including but not limited to: hazardous, infectious, sharps, confidential, recycling, regular trash, universal. Complete DOT Certification in order to package and transport regulated medical waste.
  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred. Previous cleaning experience helpful.
