PRIMARY FUNCTION: To maintain the Christiana Care Fire and Life Safety program. The Fire and Life Safety Program is a combination of numerous integrated components. These components must be maintained effectively to provide facilities that are free of the hazards of fire. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILIES: -
Tests, inspects, identifies deficiencies, develops corrective measures, documents and validates completed corrections for life safety systems and components. -
Test, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair addressable fire alarm systems and associated appurtenances and wiring. -
Test, maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair existing Christiana Care Fire Suppression & Extinguishing systems. -
Conducts or assists with fire drills to exercise and educate Christiana Care staff on Fire Emergency response procedures. Develops and/or assists with fire drill critiques with identified areas for performance improvement. -
Performs inspections of existing facilities, documents findings, creates reports and work orders and assists Christiana Care staff and contractors where necessary with Life Safety compliance issues. -
Maintains appropriate documentation of all testing, inspection and maintenance of fire protection systems for compliance with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) and Joint Commission. -
Performs inspections of designated construction areas for compliance with Interim Life Safety Measures, Infection Control measures and Safety measures. Inspections are documented and critiqued. -
Responds, investigates, and takes appropriate actions during fire/smoke events, odor calls, hazardous materials incidents, confined space rescues, medical assists, or any other emergency situations at Christiana Care facilities. -
Participates as a member of the Fire Protection on-call team on a rotating weekly shift. -
Develops and presents fire protection and/or safety topics to Christina Care employees and contractors for items such as fire extinguisher training and elevator rescue training. -
Attends and participates in various meetings/committees such as Life Safety, construction progress, and emergency management. -
Performs other related duties as required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: -
A.S. in Fire Protection or related engineering discipline. -
Experience in the Fire Protection and Life Safety industry with a working knowledge of fire suppression systems, addressable fire alarm systems, special agent fire extinguishing systems. -
4 years' experience with testing, inspections, troubleshooting, and repair of addressable fire alarm systems. -
NICET Level II Certificate in Testing & Inspection of Water-Based Fire Suppression Systems preferred. -
Experience applying the National Fire Codes, JCAHO standards, and OSHA regulations to daily operations and construction activities. -
Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted where approved. |
