This position as a Contracting Specialist III is responsible for developing, negotiating, analyzing and managing system-wide contracts for software and services associated with Information Technology (IT), telecommunications, and other technology based products.
The Contracting Specialist III is knowledgeable regarding the supplies and/or services utilized in assigned areas; provides reliable information regarding supply or service capabilities outlined in contracts; and assists in product sourcing and has an expert-level knowledge of the trends, capabilities and opportunities associated with the supplies or services on contract.
Develops negotiating strategies, identifies risk, and offers alternatives for management of such risk and business oriented contract alternatives.
Communicates contract issues and explanations to management and facilitates issue resolutions.
Assists IT staff in obtaining RFP bids for all IT and peripheral products as requested.
Represents Fairview in contract dispute resolution with vendors.
After contracts are negotiated and executed, responsibility continues for ongoing contract management (to determine necessity for amendments or extension of contracts, compliance to contractual obligations, and/or termination) and administration, including change control management.
Works with IT and Supply Chain staff to maintain the repository for all IT contracts.
Is the expert in their commodities concerning, trends, sourcing and opportunities in the marketplace.
Develop and maintain relationships with both the suppliers and with internal Fairview customers, i.e. department managers.
Active on Fairview user group committees and/or process improvement teams in leadership and/or support roles.
Develops cost comparisons, and provides summary analysis for negotiation leverage and the annual budgeting process.
Bachelors degree in business or related field and four years progressive work experience in relevant field.
Four+ years of relevant work experience in areas of contracting (i.e. agreement development, terms/benefits negotiations, reviewing and/or updating legal documentation reviews, contract management),or solicitation of interest (RFP, RFI) management or project management, or other relevant experience in area of specialty, Advanced Degree in J.D. (Juris Doctor) can substitute for 3 years of experience in contracting.
Minimum required education plus continuing education credits in the materials management industry or healthcare; advanced degree (e.g., J.D., MBA)
Ten years of progressive experience. Vendor and product knowledge in IT.
NAPM or AHA certificates in contracting and contract management. Project Management Certification (CPM).
