Fairview Southdale Hospital - Endoscopy Unit,located in Edina MN serves over 6,000 patients annually. We have 5 Endoscope Procedurerooms and perform procedures in the OR, ICU and ED as needed.We are looking for an Endoscopy Technician (Patient care/Room turnover/Instrumentation) to support our busy Endoscopy /GI unit.
The Endoscopy Technician is hybrid role to include sterile processing of endoscopy equipment and is an integral part of the GI team within the Endoscopy department who under the guidance and direction of the nursing team accomplishes a variety of delegated nursing assistive tasks such as equipment and supply set-up, assisting with collection of specimens, cleaning and disinfecting of equipment and scopes, exam room prep and clean-up including the documentation of cleaning and disinfection processes. They will complete direct patient care duties to ensure optimal patient outcomes and an exceptional patient experience.
80 hours in two weeks
Monday - Friday Varied Day shift start time between 630 - 930 am
No weekends (optional to pick up)
Keyworkd; sterile instrument processing tech, surgery tech, endo tech
Completes tasks as delegate by RN with defined role functions and competencies.
Assists in data collection to identify the patients needs, problems, concerns or human responses (e.g. vital signs, blood pressure).
Assist with the implementation of the established plan of care, as delegated,
Assist the physician and nurse before, during and after the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, handling of devices used during procedures including forceps, snares, tomes, baskets and balloons under the guidance of the procedure physician.
Reprocesses and maintains equipment according to standards of infection prevention. policies/procedures and manufacturers instructions.
Provides and maintains a healthy and safe environment for the patient and staff by complying with regulatory agency requirements and standards set forth by professional organization and institutional policies,
Acknowledges the diversity of patient.
Participates in ongoing continuing education.
Maintains knowledge of current practice issues related to the field of gastroenterology.
Complies with legal and practice standards inherent in patient care (e.g. patients bill of rights).
Ability to complete the SGNA GI Associates program to become a GI Technical Specialist (GTS) certification within one year of employment/hire date.
Six months experience working in an endoscopy or gastroenterology setting or cleaning endoscopy equipment, OR have successfully completed a Surgical Technologist/technician OR Endoscopy Tech OR Instrument (sterile processing) Tech Program ORspecialized training/education in gastroenterology
AHA Basic Life Support for healthcare providers by start date
Graduate of an accredited: Surgical Tech, or Endoscopy Tech or Instrument Tech (sterile processing) Program
Specialized training or education in gastroenterology
Work experience in an endo unit, GI unit and cleaning of equipment
Work experience in a patient support role (nursing assistant, pca or similar)
AAMA or CSSD Certification
Flexible endoscope reprocessor (CBSPD GI Scope) certification
