This position performs segments of work pertaining to the decontamination, sterilization and inspection of reusable medical equipment (RME). Duties may include but not be limited to: Removes soil, blood, tissue fragments, body fluids and other contaminants by wiping, soaking, rinsing and scrubbing. Assembles basic sets, trays and peel packs used throughout the medical center, including those used in the operating room. Inspects packages for indications of proper sterilization, proper packaging and signs of non-sterile product. Advanced Skills include: Case cart preparation based on daily surgery schedule Operation of all sterilizers to include: steam, hydrogen peroxide, ETO Perform high level disinfection via soak and scope reprocessors. Documentation of testing procedures and legal data logs. Preferred Competencies Knowledge of reprocessing for Reusable Medical Equipment/Surgical instruments Knowledge of universal precautions for safety and prevention of cross contamination Basic knowledge of medical terminology in order to assemble specialty operating room equipment Basic knowledge of surgical instruments and packaging in regard to sterility Work Schedule: 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm and 11:00 pm to 7:30 am
