The Mgr. of Safety manages the organization-wide violence prevention program and activities, including implementation of the safety and risk management plan, assessment of violence prevention needs and implementation of policies/programs/education to maximize violence prevention and minimize risk to patients/visitors/employees. Emphasizes proactive hazard prevention for patients/visitors/employees through programs, policies, and activities with a primary focus on employee education.
The Manager of Safety is responsible for monitoring Cal OSHA, legislation and other accreditation requirements to maintain current compliance. Analyzes high-risk, high-volume, problem-prone areas through work site analysis, analysis of violence patterns for trends and implements recommendations.
Provides timely reports to appropriate committees for worksite and data analysis on frequency, severity, and causes of violent incidents, actions taken and results of actions to reduce or eliminate causes, and progress related to educational and preventive efforts.
The Manager of Safety is also responsible for the campus Security Technology management and has direct oversight of outsourced Parking/Valet operations.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission, strategic plan and core values of Long Beach Medical Center & Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital (LBMC & MCWH). The Manager of Safety will also be expected to support all organizational expectations including, but not limited to: Customer Service, Patient’s Rights, Confidentiality of Information, Environment of Care, Risk Management, Security, Human Resources and Memorial Care initiatives.
The Manager of Safety will coordinate the AMAG Security Access Control System and maintain the system which includes doors, duress buttons in various departments. The manager will monitor the system for LBMC & MCWH for defect and system malfunctions as they occur. In collaboration with Facility, coordinate with the different departments with new doors being added to the system and working with vendor as the project coordinator for various project as needed. Assess badge access and assures Departments, employees, Vendors, Contractors and Volunteers have the appropriate access needed to complete their various duties.
This position is responsible for identifying threat assessment, engaging key stakeholders with effective program analysis, developing faculty and staff training and helping to establish proactive policies and protocols as well as enhancing reporting outcomes. Also responsible for the timely reporting all reportable events to CalOsha in after reviewing all WPV related reports.
