A Central Sterile Processing Technician, Ce rtified is responsible forcleaning, decontamination, assembly, and high- leveldisinfection of allreusablemedical instrumentation. Maintains high standards consistencyand continuousproduct flow between the OR and Ste rileProcessing.Responsible for maintaining adequate supply levels in ste rilestoragearea, rotating stock as appropriate pulling case carts for th e dailysurgical schedule.
Cleans, decontaminates, assembles, and disinfects scope trays andequipment following established traylistsandmanufacturesrecommendations.Maintains communica tion with customers and departments regardingrequests and delivery of st erile supplies.Promotes best practice by demonstrating a commitment to q uality patientcare.Performs assigned duties to maintain unit in a stateo fsurvey readinessand maintain quality initiatives. For example qualityco ntrol measures,emergency equipment checks, and department cleanliness.Uses the computerized instrumenttracking system in the performance ofassi gned duties, obtaining instrument count sheets, obtaining specialhandlin g instructions for instrumentation documenting sterilizationloads, and o ther assigned tasks.Adheres to unit programs to support patient caresuch as maintaining aquiet environment and customer service.Efficient and pun ctual distribution of case carts, equipment, and statsupplies to the ORa nd Maintain sterility and or cleanliness accordingto hospital protocol.Maintain accurate log for equipment out for repair.Tests operational effi ciency of Instrumentation prior to reprocessingand reports problems toap propriate leadership.Maintains a clean and orderly central processingare a (e.g. shelves,counters, equipment)May assist with teaching ofnew hires and work as resource person forother staff as well as other units in ho spital.Performs other related duties incidental to the work described he rein.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High School Diploma or Equivalent Employees hired into this job code before 2/18/19 are not required to have high school diploma or equivalent
2 years as a Sterile Processing Technician required.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Certification required as CSPDT (CBSPD) or CRCST (IAHCSMM). Additional certification preferred in at least one of the areas below: Sterile Processing Management - C.S.P.M or Healthcare Leadership - CHL Sterile Processing Department Technician - C.S.P.D.T or Registered Central Service Technician - CRCST Certified Surgical Instrument Specialist -C.S.I.S or Instrument Specialist - CIS Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (GI Scope) - C.F.E.R or Endoscope Reprocessor - CER
