The candidate selected will perform segments of work pertaining to the decontamination, sterilization and inspection of reusable medical equipment (RME). Receives contaminated critical, semi-critical, and noncritical RME in the decontamination area. Disassembles the RME and determines the correct cleaning method, such as, but not limited to, ultrasonic cleaners, mechanical washers/disinfectors, cart washers and chemical cleaning/decontamination agents, as determined by manufacturer instructions. Some of the duties include, but are not limited to; Removes soil, blood, tissue fragments, body fluids and other contaminants by wiping, soaking, rinsing and scrubbing. Inspects, assembles and determines the correct method and packaging for sterilization, such as, but not limited to steam, plasma, hydrogen peroxide and high-level disinfection. Operates equipment involved in the cleaning, disinfection and sterilization processes. Inspects packages for indications of proper sterilization, assembles basic sets and trays used throughout the medical center including those used in the operating room. Prepares operating room case carts daily utilizing surgery schedule. Responsible for reprocessing any RME following the local Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) drafted in accordance with the manufacturer's written recommendations. Performs and documents daily operational checks and records for all processes and equipment. Other duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Primary duty location will be Lake Nona, with the other option Lake Baldwin OPC. The tour of duty will include various shifts; and may include weekends and holidays. Actual tour of duty will be based on patient care and the needs of the service. This position required rotation of tours or assignments, shift work, weekends and holiday on-call.
