Recruitment is open for a full-time Medical Supply Technician (MST) position which involves a multi-grade career ladder. The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-6. Promotion is not guaranteed and no promise of promotion is implied. This is not a supply ordering position, it is a medical sterilization position. May include but may not be limited to: Collects, receives, disassembles, asepsis reasonable highly technical, complex, and extremely sophisticated medical instrumentation, and equipment items. Recognizes the proper cleaning and asepsis procedures for each specialized instrument and complex scopes being processed. Inspects each item for serviceability or doing minor repairs and origins noted for accountability or to locate missing parts. Follows infection control universal precaution a guideline for protection and to prevent the spread of contaminates. Performs inventories of items prescribed for the operation of the case cart exchange system to ensure adequate levels of supply to maintain the surgical suits operation from day to day. Enters orders for replenishment stock items into the Generic Inventory Package (GIP) for ordering and resupply purposes. Obtains and delivers by cart, medical instruments, and items to the surgery area. Inspects component parts for safety hazards and wear; explicit testing of functional capacity, performing maintenance and minor repairs before items are placed on the shelf or in area for distribution.
