The Purchasing Specialist II is responsible for sourcing product requests for all routine, capital and emergency purchase orders for assigned commodities, and order management (PO to Payment). This position will have a primary focus on capital purchases. The Fairview Supply Chain team focuses on the effective and efficient use of resources to deliver the right product, in the right quantity, at the right time, to the right place, for the right price.
This position is 80 hours per two week pay period and is full benefit eligible.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Placing orders, expediting orders, research and resolve supply receiving issues, product backorders, product substitutions, and assist with resolving any product order discrepancies
Establishing new, and maintain existing, customer accounts with vendors
Managing PO confirmations from vendors, for all POs processed electronically
Communicate with end users the status of orders as necessary
Work closely with Contract Administration in regards to contract availability, terms and pricing
Work closely with clinicians pertaining to finding clinically effective substitutions
Work closely with appropriate vendors, site Supply Chain, Accounts Payable, and end users to identify root-cause of issues and resolve all discrepancies in a timely manner
Work as a mentor fellow members of the Supply Chain, Accts Payable and PCard Team
Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives
BA in Business/related or 4 years Material Services/Purchasing/Supply Chain experience
Two or more years of Material Services/Purchasing/Supply Chain experience preferably in Healthcare setting.
Five or more years of Material Services/Purchasing/Supply Chain experience preferably in Healthcare setting.

Must possess critical thinking, organization and prioritization skills
Must be able to work independently
Must possess excellent prioritization skills and be able to attend to multiple and time sensitive tasks
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
Must be able to attend to multiple tasks concurrently and react appropriately to all emergency situations
Proficiency working with mainframe applications, Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Power Point), E-Mail
Must be willing to mentor the applicable Purchasing Specialist I staff and other members on their team
Must have Current Drivers license to travel between sites.
Must work collaboratively with various groups in addressing and resolving issues
Must be able to participate proactively with Supply Chain team members and assist when needed or instructed
Must have excellent customer service skills, preferably in a healthcare setting
Knowledge of process improvement techniques
