In this highly visible executive leadership role, the President, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh will be responsible for determining the strategic direction of the hospital and related business entities. In conjunction with the President, UPMC Hospitals, and the local executive team, this executive leader will set policy and monitor the ongoing status of this leading institution, focusing upon operations, finances, human resources, and strategic relationships with the Board, Medical Staff, community, and other stakeholders. The President, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh will actively participate in local and regional efforts to exchange information and services and to develop cooperative relationships with other organizations, including healthcare providers, both within and outside UPMC. The President, UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh will effectively lead and collaborate within UPMC’s highly matrixed reporting environment and will designate an appropriate member of the executive staff to act on his/her behalf when he/she is absent or otherwise unable to fulfill duties and responsibilities.
Candidates should bring at least 15 years’ progressive and combined executive and operational leadership experience from within a comprehensive acute care setting health system or large complex hospital; Children’s Hospital experiences strongly preferred. Candidates who are Certified by the American College for Health Care Executives with reference for fellowship preferred.
Candidates should possess a Master’s Degree in Business, Health Administration, or related field of study.
Candidates must bring proven successful experience in leading within a complex, matrixed corporate culture, and environment.
Candidates must bring proven healthcare operational acuity and accomplishment in performance excellence including such areas as access, quality, safety, employee/patient satisfaction, as well as market knowledge to achieve competitive excellence and service line growth.
