SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Maintains clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan in compliance with the Joint Commission Standards. Performs a variety of routine tasks associated with the installation, preventative maintenance, calibration and repair of moderately complex biomedical equipment and systems, including multi-component devices that may or may not be interconnected under guidance and direct supervision. May also coordinate vendor maintenance activities including project installations, maintenance, repair and recalls. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge level and experienced in most or all facets of job. Possesses an intermediate level of expertise and is capable of assisting less experienced staff.
Associate's degree in Biomedical or Electronics Technology or related field or equivalent military training required.
3 to 7 years of related experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Comprehensive knowledge of clinical equipment and networked medical systems, such as physiological monitors, nurse call systems, operating room equipment, etc. Comprehensive knowledge of simple clinical equipment.
Comprehensive understanding of safety issues surrounding medical equipment.
Comprehensive understanding of both local and national public safety and regulatory issues.
Ability to apply basic and advanced safety concepts to work and patient care environment.
Ability to read, understand and apply existing contract requirements.
Ability to communicate effective both verbally and in writing to groups or individuals.
Basic ability to build customer and vendor relationships.
Ability to interact with others in a way that promotes trust.
Ability to identify areas for continuous learning and improvement.
Basic ability to develop and use collaborative skills and teamwork to facilitate work goals. Ability to work with other support services departments, such as IT to resolve issues.
Ability to modify own behavior to accommodate tasks/situations.
Basic ability to maintain effectiveness when experiences changes in work and responsibility.
Demonstrates commitment to PSH Values.
Comprehensive understanding and can communicate the use of devices supported.
Highly familiar with the operations and environment that they support (hospital, clinic, etc.).
Comprehensive experience in assigned clinical environment.
Ability to plan and organize work to assure timely and accurate completion.
Ability to identify complex issues, problems and opportunities and take action within scope of this job that is consistent with available facts, constraints and probable consequences.
Ability to identify continuous improvement opportunities and use newly gained knowledge on the job to learn through application.
Ability to run reports and navigate databases.
Valid driver's license preferred.
IT Certification, such as networking or A++ preferred.
BMET certification preferred.
