Vice-Chancellor and Chief People and Culture Officer

Little Rock, AR - University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), the largest public employer in the state of Arkansas and the state’s only academic health sciences center, is seeking a visionary, transformative, and progressive human resources executive to serve as the next Vice-Chancellor and Chief People and Culture Officer (VC/Chief People and Culture). UAMS is the home of a diverse group of high-caliber and uniquely qualified individuals. The Department of People and Culture comprises of 92 dedicated team members across the various human resources functions.

UAMS is a distinguished, comprehensive academic health sciences center comprised of five colleges, a graduate school, seven highly regarded institutes, eight Regional Centers, and a comprehensive Medical Center. The University has a total workforce that exceeds 14,000 and an annual budget of approximately $3.92 billion. In 2020, UAMS completed a 10-year strategic planning process resulting in Vision 2029. By 2029, UAMS will lead Arkansas to be the healthiest state in the region through its synergies of education, clinical care, research, and purposeful leadership.

The Vice-Chancellor and Chief People and Culture Officer is a key senior leader for UAMS and a vital member of the Executive Leadership – Chancellor's Cabinet. The VC/Chief People and Culture is charged with planning and directing human resources strategic and administrative activities for UAMS; executing a strategic workforce plan; and integrating talent management and total rewards to attract and retain a high-quality, engaged, and diverse workforce across all components to ensure alignment with the mission and goals of UAMS.

The successful candidate must have executive-level experience in a similarly complex environment and possess executive-level human resources knowledge in the areas of benefits, compensation, change management, organizational development, human resource communications, talent acquisition, employee relations, policy, procedure, compliance, and regulatory affairs.
