As part of our enterprise Data & Analytics team, you will lead technology innovation for our company through robust delivery of world-class data platform. There will never be a “typical day”. You will have an opportunity to work in multiple roles such as Cloud Data Engineer, Data Modeler or Data Architect covering all aspects of Data including Data Management, Data Governance and Data Migration. You will be the subject matter expert in data engineering and Snowflake-Azure data technologies.
You will lead architecture, design, and development of robust and scalable cloud data warehouse, data pipelines and business intelligence solutions. You will work with the enterprise Analytics team, their data scientists, and various functional SMEs to understand the business requirements. You will collaborate to deliver high quality large datasets to support machine learning, real-time business analysis and customer reporting needs. Data-sharing will be across the enterprise and with our external partners. This will require interfacing with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from a wide variety of internal and external data sources, and to establish standards for related technology and business processes. A key architectural deliverable will be batch and streaming pipelines that can easily and quickly add new data elements for analysis from existing and new data sources.
Responsibilities will also include technical delivery review, resolution of architecture issues, rearchitecting existing on-premises datasets to Azure Snowflake platform and mentoring and influencing some of our team members both onshore and offshore.
Skills and Experience:
Required:
8+ years of related experience within a corporate environment required; experience must include successful track record with data warehouse and data engineering architecture, designing highly scalable ELT/ETL batch and stream processes with error handling, data quality checks, restartability, and monitoring, and architectural understanding of BI and reporting platforms
Ideal candidate would have come from a hands-on development background, and risen through the ranks to become an Architect, with at least 3 years’ experience of architecting and rendering cloud-based data engineering solutions in Snowflake.
The candidate must have recently architected large-scale Snowflake data solutions, performed data pipeline architectural assessments, examined architectural alternatives, and helped choose the best solution in collaboration with IT and other stakeholders
Experience developing solutions in Snowflake and related technologies like Snowpipe, DBT, or ADF
Clear understanding of Snowflake’s advanced concepts like virtual warehouses, query performance using micro partitions and pruning, zero copy clone, time travel, resource monitors, and RBAC security control methods including network, data, role based etc.
Strong experience with SQL stored procedures, Python, shell scripting and semi-structured data types using JSON
Being able to produce data models that are both easy to query by end-users and perform well at high volumes: normalized data structures as well as dimensional model
Ability to balance several projects while delivering high quality results in a timely manner
Be able to defend and champion ideas/findings to technical and functional audience
Desired:
Necessary Azure cloud experience for architecting data pipelines
Experience with Git and key CI/CD solutions like Azure DevOps Pipelines
Demonstrated ability to lead and influence product teams that are not in a direct reporting relationship
Exposure to analytical tools like Power BI Premium architecture
Experience with FHIR model or HL7 messages
