The role you’ll contribute:
Screens, assesses, develops, and implements nutrition care plans based on patients' nutritional and educational needs that follow departmental guidelines for timely, quality nutrition care. Uses evidence-based standards where applicable. Participates in outpatient nutrition programs and clinics when applicable. Actively participates in projects and process improvement activities as assigned.

Uses the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Standards of Care and Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Process, as well as hospital and departmental guidelines to facilitate nutrition care of patients.
Performs comprehensive inpatient / client nutritional assessments and re-assessments across the age spectrum per departmental screening and assessment guidelines.
Interviews using age and education level appropriate communication techniques with patient/ client. Reviews and interprets nutrition related lab values.
Reviews and considers impact of nutrition related medications on patient’s nutritional status and nutritional needs.
Develops nutrition care plan, interventions and goals based on desired outcomes for patient/client, which include but not limited to assess calorie, protein, and micronutrient needs; evaluating appropriateness of enteral or parenteral nutrition; determining enteral or parenteral feeding regime and implementing per department and hospital policy.
Performs education and communication to patient, family, and care team regarding plan of care.
Monitors response to nutrition care plans, interventions, and goals and revising as appropriate.
Documents all patient care activities including evaluations, education, and progress notes per standards of practice and regulatory/third party payer requirements.
Demonstrates effective time management and is proactive in prioritizing workload and meeting productivity requirements.
Adapts to rapidly changing technologies, policies, regulations, census and staffing through priority setting and flexibility.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in nutrition and dietetics
Current Registered Dietitian or eligibility (required within six months of hire/transfer)
Required to complete a minimum of 75 CEU hours every 5 years per Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Guidelines
Preferred:
Successful completion of AND approved internship
One year of clinical dietitian experience
Experience with Food Service Operations database and Dietetic software
Current membership in a professional organization such as Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Association of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, American Diabetes Association or American Association of Diabetes Educators
